Resilient River
We snapped Nationals prez Stan Kasten, Capitol Riverfront BID director Michael Stevens, and Candidate for DC mayor Sulaimon Brown gathered for the State of the Capitol Riverfront luncheon at 55 M St—Monument’s 275k SF office building. Stan pointed out that just two years ago “the Front” had zero visitors, yet in 2009 saw close to 2M. Michael reported on the effort to rebuild 500 acres along the Anacostia River, saying despite the economic downturn, the area’s residential population doubled this year to 2,500. More than 1M SF of new office space was taken, including leases by the Bureau of Land Management at 20 M St, Parsons Engineering at 100 M St, and the purchase by DC of 225 Virginia Ave.
